Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) has approved Globe Biotech Ltd to produce coronavirus vaccine doses aiming to conduct clinical trial.

Dr Asif Mahmud, in-charge of research and development department at Globe, made the disclosure to the media on Wednesday.

The company will try to conduct clinical trial once the vaccines are produced, he said.

On July 2 last year, Globe Biotech announced they were developing a Covid-19 vaccine as they had completed preliminary animal trials successfully.

On October 5, they said they had received “very promising” results from the pre-clinical trials on rabbits and mice.

Globe’s vaccine was listed on the World Health Organisation (WHO) draft landscape of Covid-19 candidate vaccines on October 15.
