A special team of Indian police is coming to Dhaka to investigate into the murder of Jhenaidah-4 constituency lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar, who was killed in Kolkata after going there for medical purpose.
The Indian police team is expected to reach Dhaka on Thursday, a source of Bangladesh DB police confirmed the matter to Jago News.
However, it is yet to know how many members of the team will come to Dhaka.
Indian police on Wednesday said the Bangladeshi lawmaker Anar was killed, who went to Kolkata on May 12 for medical treatment and went missing a day after arrival.
Anar’s daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Doreen filed a case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in Dhaka over the murder incident on Wednesday evening.
Ahad Ali, officer-in-charge of the police station, confirmed the matter to Voice of Bangladesh.
He said Anar’s daughter Doreen filed the case against unnamed people. The criminals will be brought to justice after investigation.
Mohammad Harun-Or-Rashid, Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), on Wednesday said it is a brutal murder incident. Anar was a popular public representative. We are keeping contact with Indian police. Some suspected people are in our custody. We are getting important information from them. For the sake of the investigation, we cannot disclose everything.
