Covid-19: 16 dead, 697 infected, 736 recover in 24 hours

Sixteen people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 7,922 and the death rate stands at 1.50 percent.

At least 697 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 5,28,329, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 5.49 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.22 percent.

A total of 12,707 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 736 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 4,73,173 and the recovery rate at 89.56 percent.

Among the 16 deceased, 12 were men and four women while one was between 31-40 years old, two within 51-60 and 13 were above 60 years old, added the release.
